About the films:

5 Rehearsals of a Wedding
(2018, 28 min, PG)
Kray Chen

5 Rehearsals of a Wedding
upends the elaborate and deeply rooted traditions, rituals and cultural clichés of an average Singaporean Chinese wedding. Through five ‘rehearsals’, visual artist Kray Chen addresses the underlying anxieties and behaviours closely tied to this occasion, rendering the spectacle and grandeur of a wedding into a bittersweet affair.

Damaged on the Inside
(2018, 16 min, Rating PG13 (Some Coarse Language))
Syamsul Bahari

Gang underlings Shak and Momo have only a few hours to make up the money after messing up a job. Their plan is to steal a lottery ticket from the nefarious neighbourhood tough guy. The film is inspired by the album This Won’t Save The World, a sophomore album by Singaporean pop-punk band Take-Off, and embodies the mischief, buoyancy and carefree attitudes true to its featured music.

வரைதோல் (The Parchment) (2018, 16 min, M18 (Mature Content))
Pavithran Nathan

Out of desperation to reconcile with his late son, Surya kidnaps a young boy to serve as his spiritual host. The ritual to connect with one boy comes with necessary sacrifices for the other and straddling between his selfish grief and his responsibilities to the living, Surya makes a promise he may not be able to keep.

康乃馨 (White Carnations) (2017, 11 min, PG)
Tang Wan Xin

A single mother struggles with the futility of her relationship with her special needs son as her patience wears thin.

Shelf Life (2018, 6 min, G)
Ryan Ben Lee

At a novelty store, dust-collecting curios are bizarrely reanimated. Through a manipulation of sound and image, seemingly innocuous objects come to life.

Inspirational Ghost (2017, 9 min, PG)
Sissi Kaplan in collaboration with Vivian Wang

Inspirational Ghost traces the phases of a brief liaison, presenting the viewer with an intimate reflection on an unrealised relationship. This film is the third instalment of a trilogy, the other films being The Incident (2012) and About Emptiness (2014).

五丛树下 (Five Trees) (2017, 10 min, PG)
Nelson Yeo

A chance encounter leads old lovers, Keow and Mok, to reunite at the Five Trees.
